6 Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. NASB

Inhabitant, ‘yashab,’ means to dwell, to marry, to sit down, to continue, to establish.

Zion, ‘Tsiyown,’ means a permanent capital, zion, a mountain of Jerusalem, conspicuous, monumental, guiding pillar.

The Holy One of Israel is a reference to the one and only God of Israel, the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

The word for Israel, ‘Yisrael,’ means he will rule as God, it is also a symbolic name for Jacob who was renamed Israel, to prevail, to have power, prince.  And the ‘el’ part refers to God or the Almighty.

Midst, ‘qereb,’ means center, among, nearest part, inward, within self.

And so we completed the previous chapter, chapter eleven, which taught the basis for how one may grow up and survive in this life.  The primary purpose of that chapter is for those who will live in the Tribulation, to be able to learn and to know and to survive those terrible last days of history.

This chapter, then is the praise issued to the Lord who will return at the Second Advent, which is the culminating event of the Tribulation, having defeated the anti-christ and Satan and all of the evil forces that have been doing everything in their power to destroy humanity which too culminates in the last great war of Armageddon.

Of course all of this is off in the future at the end of history, but Isaiah has been preparing Israel and all of humanity for those future dark days.

Beginning with the trouble that Judah was having with Samaria and Syria, and using those events to provide signs of a savior, a child who will be born, from Isaiah’s perspective and has already been born from our perspective in history.  That same child is human but also is God.

And the close of this chapter describes the celebration of those who will survive the Tribulation, and who will enter into the Millennium, which is the promised Kingdom of God, wherein Jesus Christ will rule for one-thousand years, and that will finally lead to the completion of human history and this universe.

But at the Second Advent and shortly thereafter, there will be a celebration in the hearts and minds of those who survived and this is why they survived.

They were inhabitants of Zion.  Which is to say that they were mature believers, established in doctrine.

Zion is a mountain in Jerusalem, but not all who survive in the Tribulation will be residents on that high hill.

Zion also means dwelling of God.  And God is truth so it is the dwelling and location of truth, which is Bible doctrine.  Zion is used symbolically for Bible doctrine.

Dwelling in doctrine means simply that they studied and learned doctrine and it was doctrine that lived within their soul, making them an occupant or resident of doctrine, and it a resident in them.

The Holy One is the Messiah, who was born a baby boy, but is referred to here as the Almighty, or God.

This is not a play on words but an accurate description of exactly who Christ is, namely both man and God, the unique person of the universe.

In the midst of thee, carries two connotations.

The first, is that Christ having returned, is, or will be, living in this world on planet earth.  He will be here physically, walking and talking to everyone and anyone who wants to interact with Him.

And second, since Christ is the living word, the word being the written words, then anyone who learns doctrine, has doctrine in their soul and thus has Christ resident within their soul as a part of the knowledge and wisdom base.

So, who is delivered?

Spiritually mature believers.

How did they get there?

They studied, read, listened and learned doctrine.  Then they used what they learned in their daily life in order to accelerate their spiritual growth to maturity.

And since they began the Tribulation just like everyone else, being unbelievers, since the Rapture will remove all believers and leave behind only unbelievers, then they will have to learn and grow while living under the most horrifying circumstances in all of human history.  Not the easiest of times for learning anything, especially learning from scratch.

But many will accomplish this feat.

So, what is your excuse?

These are not the hard times that people will see in those terrible days.  Most folks today get upset when they read some derogatory post online.  Hardly a comparison to the Tribulation where people will be dying, literally, like flies, during that seven year period, and living in total fear of gangs and starvation and such. But they, some, will still succeed in their spiritual life.

Victory goes to the prepared.  Victory goes to the mature.  Victory in life goes to those who God delivers, and God delivers those who pursue His mandates. And His mandates are that you study daily, that you study doctrine under instruction, just as you are right now, that you function in your spiritual life in fellowship, by means of confession, that you use what you learn in your daily life, and that you do this day after day throughout your entire life so that you will be complete as God intends for you to be, and have a great and phenomenal life both now and in eternity.

The world will swirl out of control all around you regardless of what you think or do, but doctrine will give you the edge for surviving all of the nonsense and turmoil that the world will bring.

5 Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; Let this be known throughout the earth. NASB

Sing, ‘zamar,’ means to make music by playing an instrument or with your own voice, from the source of your own soul.

Although there are many circumstances in this world and in everyone's life that would prevent happy expressions of joy and celebration, there are far more circumstances and situations in which God has made happiness more than possible, for all of eternity.

Our life here and now is temporary.  It is the devils world and as such, there are more than enough causes for sadness and suffering and burdens galore.  All as a result of Satan’s policy of evil and attempts to sabotage history.

Regardless of your situation, which may be horrible in your case, your situation will end and Satan’s plan will end as well.  God controls history and God controls destinies.  And when you place your life and trust in Gods hands, then your future, your eternal future is more than secure.

Life has its miseries and happy times too, but this world and this life will end and then the next life will take over and that next life will never end.

Now is the time of preparation, sufferings included, but it will end.

And God has a plan of phenomenal blessing, beyond anything that we can even begin to imagine, and that next phase of our life will make all of this life well worth the inconveniences that it throws at us now.

Be patient, be genuine in your pursuit of spiritual maturity, and never give up no matter what your situation may be.

Life now with our few short years that we have, is nothing when compared to the infinite years of eternity.

The inconvenient or horrible situations that we have now, are nothing when compared to the phenomenal happiness that we will have in the next life.

And whether you are a believer or not, all the world knows this to be true even if the idea is rejected.  No one has an excuse for their choices, their wrong choices in life.

4 And in that day [yowm] shall ye say, ['amar] Praise [yadah] the LORD, [Yahovah] call [qara'] upon his name, [shem] declare [yada`] his doings [`aliylah] among the people, [`am] make mention [zakar] that his name [shem] is exalted. [sagab]KJV-Interlinear

4 And in that day you will say, "Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted." NASB

In that day, is still referring to a future time from Isaiah’s perspective, and since these things have not yet occurred, it is still future from our perspective as well.

That day refers to the time when God will establish His kingdom here on the earth.  We know that, that will occur at the Second Advent, which is the event that will bring the Tribulation to its end, and from there, the Millennium, or the one-thousand year reign, the Kingdom of God on earth, will begin.

This is the song, the thoughts, the emotions that the people who will endure and survive through the Tribulation, will be having within themselves.

The gratitude, the thanks, the emotions will be overwhelming, to near beyond their capability to experience them.

The one thought will be on the Lord, who is Jesus Christ, about who this entire Bible is written.

The religions, the philosophies, the invented ideas of humanity will fade into non-existence, as the reality of the Tribulation and its ending will be in the forefront of everyone's mind.

Jesus Christ will be right there in the flesh, and all will see Him, and their thoughts will not be on their things, or on their losses, or on some government program, or even the things of old that might be remembered as to how they were, but really weren’t.

The conversation will be on the work of Christ, the ending of evil, the Kingdom of God. 

The entire focus will no longer be on earthly things or beliefs, no longer on celebrities, no longer on the things of old, but on Christ and the reality that Christ is now all that matters.

And with the world pretty much destroyed, there will be no industry, no shopping, no toys or trinkets, no malls, no utilities, no internet, virtually nothing, and people could easily get depressed with such a dismal future still before them.  But those are worldly views, not Gods views.

Instead people will look to the one and only person who will turn it all around, and pretty quickly, and with no thoughts of poor me, the world is ending, woe is me and such.

In that day, people will look forward with confidence, to the hope that Christ will provide, and to Christ Himself.

No views will be of a world that will recover on its own, for it cannot and will not.

The views will be on Christ, who is life and the sustainer of life and the infinite and endless source of all things.

3 Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation. NASB

Wells or springs are often times used to describe blessing that continually flow into ones life.

The flowing waters of rivers, rain and even floods can too be used to describe the vast abundance of Gods blessings, as they never dry up, never stop flowing, never disappear from ones sight.

Salvation is a door through which there lies beyond, vast blessings that otherwise are not available to the unbeliever.

When a person believes in Christ, they are saved and they have eternal life.

But as a new born spiritual infant, the new believer has no capacity or ability to deal with the blessings of the adult.  One has to grow up and become an adult, a spiritual adult, before they can receive and appreciate the blessings that are meant and designed for the adult.

To draw from those waters, is not to be saved over and over, again and again every day of ones life, which would be an insult to Gods ability and power, but to draw from springs, from wells continually throughout ones life, is to receive access to Gods blessings over and over, again and again.

And since Gods resources are endless, then His blessings are likewise endless and will never be exhausted.

God could give everyone everything, and there would still be an infinite supply of blessings available to do it all over again and again, forever.

Advancement to spiritual maturity has possibilities that far exceed ones imagination.  Therefore advancement to spiritual maturity is far beyond the most valuable thing or possession that you can have, ever.  It is connected directly to Gods blessings, which come from His favor, which manifests itself for spiritually advancing believers.

Don’t misunderstand, all believers will have eternal life and that is phenomenal, and infinitely greater than what unbelievers will ever have. 

But the blessings of spiritual maturity, are likewise infinitely greater than what spiritually immature believers will ever have.

When you were saved, you were born again, but you were an infant.  Do not remain a baby.  Grow up and enjoy the fruits of maturity.

2 "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation." NASB

The word, ‘el,’ is a name for deity and means strength, power, strong, almighty.

Lord, ‘yahh,’ means sacred one, or a vehement statement of force behind the word Lord.

Jehovah, is the typical word used of the God of the Israelites, as opposed to all other gods that the world invents.  It is the second person of the trinity, and the personal name for the Messiah.  It means self-existent one, or eternal one.  This is also a form of the first person name of God, which was given to Moses, ‘I Am,’ or ‘ehyeh,’ which too means, I am the self-existent one, when spoken to Moses, God identified Himself as the actual God Himself speaking directly to Moses and not a voice  that was speaking through some intermediate method of communication.  That made it very dramatic and fearful for Moses to be speaking directly with God.

And so we have here, that God the one and only God, the true and self-extent one, is the source of salvation.

Salvation, comes from no other source but God.

Not from any other invented god, for all other gods are invented.  Not from some world philosophy, which too is invented with complete disregard for God and truth.  Not from wishes, not from good intentions, not from sincerity, not from any angel or animal of celestial body, not from any other source.

The God, the one and only God of Israel, who is the Messiah, who was born to Mary, and named Jesus, this one is the source of salvation, and there is no other salvation in existence.

And quoting for the song of Moses, Ex. 15, God is our source of strength.  He is our life.  He is our will.  He is our confidence.  He is our wisdom and knowledge.  For God is both living and written. And as to the living, He is real.  And as to written, that is our connection to reality and understanding and orientation and life.

And song, points to the music of fulfillment and happiness and contentment welling out from within ones soul.

Music is an expression of emotion and appreciation and contentment and happiness, and music from within ones soul often times cannot be expressed in terms of words, but in deep feelings of thought that too, have difficulty in finding the right words to express them, thus the song, the music, the deep expressions for which there are no words.

To become my salvation, is an expression repeated here for the spiritual life after salvation.

Salvation occurs in a single moment and is complete.  But after salvation, a person lives on for decades and decades and such.  Life after being saved, incorporates the whole growing up process, the whole learning process, the gaining of knowledge and wisdom and understanding, and all of that leads to an even greater song, that is a mature adults version of a younger persons song, but with greater depth and personal meaning.

And often times in life you will arrive at a place when all you have is your deep inner feelings.  Typically they are connected with extreme grief or sorrow or anxieties when pleading for relief or help. But this is the similar expression herein described, but from the perspective of having been delivered from some form of extreme trial.

Those folks who will be delivered out from the extremes of the Tribulation, will have endured through the most terrible time in all of human history and as such their inner expressions will be overpowering.

1 Then you will say on that day, "I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord; For although Thou wast angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, And Thou dost comfort me. NASB

In that day, is a reference to the previous chapter, wherein the Messiah, the Lord, has defeated evil and all enemies of good and truth, and has delivered all who have looked to Him in those desperate days with never-ending confidence.

And despite obvious and overwhelming odds against them, they were kept alive by Christ, in order to be delivered by Christ, and enter into the Millennium, which is the promised Kingdom of God on earth.

It is those people who will witness the most dramatic events of all of human history.  Never having seen past history, but only knowing about what they have read in the history books and such, and most probably not giving much of even a second thought to the past events of history, but now will have seen first hand, the rise of an anti-christ, and the fall of humanity and the entire world, in just seven brief but seemingly long years.

They will be witness to the dramatic geological changes in the planet.  They will be witness to the dramatic changes in the animal life.  They will be witness to the dramatic changes in a world that no longer has the influence of an imprisoned Satan.

And the thoughts of all people will now be ones of praise and appreciation and love and deep thoughtfulness for all that the Lord has accomplished for them and for everyone.

And it is this twelfth chapter, though just a short six verses, which will demonstrate the incredible song that will exist within the hearts of those who have been delivered from the worlds worst period in all of human history.

When most did not look to Christ, when most will probably fall away in their despair and anxiety driven fears and worries, when most will not learn doctrine and grow up in their spiritual life and spiritual faith as counseled in the first few verses of chapter eleven, when most will lack doctrine and therefore will give up in their life and on life because the pressures and terrors of the world are too great, and their faith in Gods plan and deliverance was too small or non-existent.

It will be a time when everyone, without exception, during that period of Tribulation, will never know what tomorrow will bring, when all around them there is nothing but destruction and death and starvation and violence, and absolutely no reason to believe that tomorrow will be any better, but most likely will be far worse.

But there will be a few, a remnant, who will look to God after living in unbelief, and will turn their lives totally to His promise, and they will persevere through until the very end, until He returns at the Second Advent, and established His Kingdom and rule.

And the changes will be so dramatic that there will not be words to express oneself, except these few words or praise.  Words and confidences that should be in all of us regardless of when we live in history.
