Psalm 10:16

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalm 10:16

16 The LORD [Yahovah] is King [melek] for ever [`owlam] and ever: [`ad] the heathen [gowy] are perished ['abad] out of his land. ['erets]KJV-Interlinear

16 The Lord is King forever and ever; Nations have perished from His land. NASB

The Lord is the personal name for the second person of the Trinity, who received the title Son of God, as we learned when we first began the study of the Psalms.  He is the God/man, the unique person of the universe, the Savior, who we have come to know as Jesus Christ.

He has lived since eternity past, is God, is co-equal, co-infinite, and co-eternal with the other two members of the Godhead.

He came to us in the form of humanity as a descendant of David, for the sole purpose of paying the price demanded by salvation, and as such fulfilled all of the demands of righteousness and justice, and became the legitimate heir to the throne of both God and man, and is thus the legitimate King of all kings and over all things.

Jesus Christ is the legitimate sovereign over all of heaven and creation, and will remain as such forever.

The psalm makes this statement as though it is already accomplished and in effect lends credibility to the absolute certainty of Christ’s right to authority and sovereignty, when He will formally take possession of it at the end of history.

Heathen is a word that describes all enemies of God.

Heathen is a word that describes all who lack truth, who subscribe to things other than truth.  The heathen includes all naïve peoples, all sub-cultures (generally speaking), all people who reject Christ, doctrine and truth, regardless of their culture, race, color, intellect, etc.

The heathen is the true infidel, in that they reject truth, Christ, doctrine, and so forth.  Some religions use the term infidel, but the Bible uses the term, heathen.  They are essentially one and the same term.

An enemy of God includes all unbelievers (those who reject Christ), as well as all believers in Christ who reject or disregard their obligations in the study and application of doctrine.  It certainly includes all believers who are regularly out of fellowship.  A believer who lives their life out of fellowship is nothing more than an imitator of an unbeliever as far as the content of their soul or pattern of life is concerned.

In which case, all who live by other than truth, will fail. They will perish, and better stated, their pattern of thought, their pattern of life, their life styles will all cease to exist.

And certainly they will cease at the end of each persons respective life, but they will permanently cease universally at the end of history.

Psalm 10:15

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalm 10:15

15 Break [shabar] thou the arm [zarowa`] of the wicked [rasha`] and the evil [ra`] man: seek out [darash] his wickedness [resha`] till thou find [matsa'] none. [bal] KJV-Interlinear

15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer, Seek out his wickedness until Thou dost find none. NASB

The prayer of life is one in which God is requested to punish and wipe out all evil and wickedness.

Just as the hands are symbolic of doing things, the legs or feet are symbolic of ones course or path or pattern of life, and so the arm is the symbol of effort or strength in accomplishing a purpose.

To break the arm then renders the effort helpless and impotent, thus terminating its purpose.

The purpose of the wicked is nothing good.  All evil is destined to destroy everything.  And therefore to end its effort, means an end to its destruction of life, making things better for all.

This prayer also requests God to seek out all aspects of wickedness.  All sin, all evil, is sought after, rounded up, and punished.  God leaves nothing unpunished, even the most insignificant sin or evil.

In so requesting this prayer, it is made clear that no one gets away with anything. It is Gods policy to answer this prayer and execute His judgment against all evil.  This leaves no place to hide, no place for secrets, no place left unturned for wicked activities to slip by.

God accounts for every little scrap of evil, be it sin, criminal activity, self righteous activity, lascivious activity, human good, etc.

It is not yours to worry that someone else might get away with something.  But it is your responsibility to concern yourself with your own habits and patterns of life, such that you do not get caught up in Gods discipline, for your own thoughts or actions.

Concern yourself with yourself, and set your priorities on your own spiritual life, and in so doing you will not be held in judgment for your judging of others either socially, by gossip, or opinion and so forth.  Legal due process for judging others, is a separate topic and not viewed here.

The Bible sets forth social standards for all manner of behavior, and it is not your duty to set public standards for public behavior.

2 Timothy 1:10

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
2 Timothy 1:10

10 But [de] is [phaneroo] now [nun] made manifest [phaneroo] by [dia] the appearing [epiphaneia] of our [hemon] Saviour [soter] Jesus [Iesous] Christ, [Christos] who [men] hath abolished [katargeo] death, [thanatos] and [de] hath brought [photizo] life [zoe] and [kai] immortality [aphtharsia] to light [photizo] through [dia] the gospel: [euaggelion] KJV-Interlinear

10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, NASB

In eternity past, God put forth a plan, which called for salvation for those who would believe in Christ, as a result of the work of Christ on the Cross.

Since the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden, God gave humanity a promise that He would manifest himself in the form of a man, and pay the price of sin, which is death, such that none would have to make that payment, and for the mere acceptance of His work, then each would receive eternal life.

From the time of Adam, until the first advent of Christ, that promise, was nothing more than just that, a promise that had yet to be fulfilled.

Satan was and is the author of death and all suffering that exists. It was his purpose to intervene in history and destroy Gods plan.  But of course Satan failed.  He fails at everything that he does.

Revealed by His appearing, is a phrase that means, due to the first advent and the work which Christ accomplished on the Cross, then that promise of salvation and eternal life, has now been fulfilled.

Prior to the Cross, people could only look forward to the fulfillment of that promise.  Since the Cross, we can look back and see the promise fulfilled and now in force.

Prior to the Cross, all who believed in the Savior, when they died, went to Paradise, one of the four compartments in the underworld called Hades.  There they were held captive, not by God, but due to Satan’s complaint, and were not released until Christ had completed His work on the Cross.

Once the Cross was complete, then Jesus Christ, after the Cross, went into Paradise and retrieved all who were there, and led them out in a great victory parade, and victory procession, to heaven, and now all believers who die do not go to Paradise, but straight to Heaven.

However, death in its permanency sense, no longer exists.  God has promised yet another promise, and that is that one day, just as Christ was resurrected, so too, all believers will be resurrected out from death, and into resurrection bodies and life, to live forever and ever.

That will be the fulfillment of this promise.  When the resurrection occurs for all, at the end of history, then death will have been abolished, rendered powerless, and obliterated permanently and forever.

2 Timothy 1:9

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
2 Timothy 1:9

9 Who [ho] hath saved [sozo] us, [hemas] and [kai] called [kaleo] us with an holy [hagios] calling, [klesis] not [ou] according to [kata] our [hemon] works, [ergon] but [alla] according to [kata] his own [idios] purpose [prothesis] and [kai] grace, [charis] which [ho] was given [didomi] us [hemin] in [en] Christ [Christos] Jesus [Iesous] before [pro] the world began [chronos], [aionios] KJV-Interlinear

9 who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, NASB

Who, is a reference to the Lord, who is Jesus Christ.

Has saved, is a reference to the saving work of Christ on the Cross, where the price for salvation was made, and of the Father who planned salvation, and the Spirit who reveals and sustains it all.

The holy calling, is the combination of righteousness and justice of God, which when brought together make holiness.  Holiness if the perfect righteousness of God, maintained by the perfect justice which demands that all filth be cleansed away in order to maintain that perfect righteousness, which is the absence of all filth, taint, sin, evil and so forth.

And, God did not bring about salvation by means of anything we have or can do, but by means of His own work.

Mans righteousness is as filthy rags (used and reused filthy menstrual rags), as Isaiah states.  And that is as good as mans righteousness can ever get.

And our salvation, our destiny, our purpose was determined and sealed, before time began, and has been a permanent plan for a very long time, even before you or I, or even all of humanity has been in existence.

And, it was all granted and provided through Jesus Christ.  Not Allah, not Buddha, not any god or invented deity, or philosophy or accident of nature or history.

There is only one name given to creation by which we may be saved, and that is Jesus Christ.

There is no other philosophy, no other religion, nothing in existence that can match or equate with Christianity, because quite frankly they are all based on lies, whereas Christianity is truth.

There are not multiple access’s to God, not multiple paths to heaven, not any method of self determination by which man can define his own course in life.

There is only one God, one plan, one spiritual life, and they are all through only one person, Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:8

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
2 Timothy 1:8

8 Be [epaischunomai] not [me] thou [epaischunomai] therefore [oun] ashamed [epaischunomai] of the testimony [marturion] of our [hemon] Lord, [kurios] nor [mede] of me [eme] his [autos] prisoner: [desmios] but [alla] be thou partaker of the afflictions [sugkakopatheo] of the gospel [euaggelion] according to [kata] the power [dunamis] of God; [theos] KJV-Interlinear

8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, NASB

Do not be ashamed of being a Christian, because it is a faith that no one, short of believers in Christ, understands.

Back in Pauls day, Christians were persecuted horribly.  And even in our current day, Christians are mocked in political circles, as being outside of the thinking of rational politicians or want-to-be leaders of society.

In some parts of the world Christians are persecuted horribly even as they were 2000 years ago.  And in the future, as this and the next generations drift away from faith, then the mocking and ridicule and worse behaviors against Christians, will increase even more.

Paul calls himself a prisoner, but he is referring to the containment that doctrine has on his own life, a containment which he has gladly submitted himself to, in a similar fashion as a wife voluntarily binds herself to the husband she respects and loves dearly.

It is voluntary and without coercion, and the best possible relationship that anyone can possibly have.

The sufferings of the gospel, do not refer to the sufferings that people have in their day to day life, but refer to the differences between the spiritual life and the carnal life as described in the phrase, ‘according to the power of God.’

God defines and segregates the spiritual and the non-spiritual life patterns.  And the world will align itself against all truth.

Thus when there are incompetent leaders, or a spiritual decay within society, and as a result there is an economic downturn which affects us all, through higher prices, unemployment, economic troubles, floods, and weather pattern turmoil, and many other things that occur in a spiritually dysfunctional society, then you will find yourself suffering along with everyone else.

Not to mention the mocking that will go along with being a Christian.

Evil people never accept responsibility for their own part in causing world trouble.  They always look for better solutions, which only make things worse, and they look for scapegoats to blame.  And who better to blame than Jews and Christians, and even other races or minorities.

When Adam and Eve were in the Garden, the world was perfect.  When sin entered, then the deterioration process began. That process affects all aspects of life, from genetic defects, to reduced lifespan, to the weather, to the access that the soul has to your life through your brain.

God created the soul perfect, and were it not for the limitations of the brain, you would be a phenomenal genius.  Life demonstrates the many differences that people have in intellect and ability and talents.  These are not simply physical differences, but differences that the soul has in its access to the human physiology.

So as goes attitude toward Christ, so goes the blessings or lack thereof, in your life and environment.

We have already studied the Tribulation, and have seen just how bad things are going to get in that future day, and all because of a phenomenal rejection of truth.

The gospel speaks of Christ, and more than that, it speaks of truth in our overall life.

When your life goes sour, then look first at the circumstances of your life.  Is it you because you are not faithful to the study of the scriptures, or is it the world, that is never faithful to truth.  And assuming that you are faithful, then do not complain as the world falls apart, and you get hurt in the process.

Remember that your home and future are not here, and not of this world, but rest in heaven and beyond.  Do not be embarrassed, but suck it up and persevere.
