Revelation 21:24

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Revelation 21:24

24 And [kai] the nations [ethnos] of them which are saved [sozo] shall walk [peripateo] in [en] the light [phos] of it: [autos] and [kai] the kings [basileus] of the earth [ge] do bring [phero] their [autos] glory [doxa] and [kai] honour [time] into [eis] it. [autos] KJV-Interlinear

24 And the nations shall walk by its light, and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it. NASB

Throughout human history, there have been and will continue to be, many nations of peoples. From some nations, there will be a few of those who have believed, or will believe, in the one and only savior, the Son of God, who is Jesus Christ.  From some nations, there will be many who have been, and will be, saved.

Regardless of what nation you happen to live in right now, regardless of what nation the many believers from throughout the ages, will come from, regardless of a persons rank or stature in human history, regardless of their cultural background, regardless of their circumstances of life, all believers in Christ will be allowed into the future New Jerusalem, in the New Universe, where heaven and the universe become one.

Regardless of who you are in this life, or where you come from, your glory, your background, your culture, whatever it might be, peasant or royalty, will be set aside and lost in the destruction of this universe. We will all enter into the New Jerusalem, equal before the Lord, and there will be but one glory, which is that of Christ.

The only inequality for people will exist in the degree of their eternal reward, which they receive when they stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ following each respective resurrection.

Bringing ones glory and honor into it, is an expression for laying ones own personal self worth, whatever that might be, down before the glory of God.  Subordinating ones self totally to God.

Gods glory is expressed in the beauty and magnificence of the city and more.  And to that the only legitimate glory that believers will possess is the glory which God gives and it is that which they (we) will bring.

Anything and everything from the old universe will not survive into the new.

Right now in history, we have been discovering that even the ancients had pretty sophisticated methods of recording the times and the seasons, even with pretty sophisticated calendars.  And they were able to do that with virtually no technology such as we have today.

But all of the components of those ancient calendars, based on the sun and the moon, the stars and the zodiac symbols, were all made possible by Gods placement of stars at varying vastly distant star positions, by the filtering out of the night sky lights, by our own atmosphere, making some stars more obvious that others.

And while some worship the lights of the sky, when history is all over, those lights will not exist ever again.  Some even worship at the alter of evolution, even that belief system will be dismantled when the universe if obliterated and a new one is created right before our eyes.

Some presume that space is simply a huge vacuum into which this universe exists, however, space is also a part of Gods creation too.  Try to figure that one out.

Remember that when this universe is destroyed, nothing of the old will be a part of the new, that even includes the vacuum of outer space.  So as we try to imagine, we realize that we cannot even begin to imagine what destiny is before us.

Isaiah 1:16

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Isaiah 1:16

16 Wash [rachats] you, make you clean; [zakah] put away [cuwr] the evil [roa`] of your doings [ma`alal] from before [neged] mine eyes; [`ayin] cease [chadal] to do evil; [ra`a`] KJV-Interlinear

16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil, NASB

Justice and charity will never atone for atheism and carnality. Empty prayers and worship will never atone for fraud and oppression. Righteousness toward men is as much a branch of the Christian life as the Christian life towards God is a branch of universal righteousness.

God calls here for repentance, a washing of ones self, and more specifically a washing of ones soul. This is not a water bath or even a shower. Water has nothing to do with this concept except in the teaching of it.

We have an obligation to be active in our spiritual life. Not to just cease doing things and then become idle. God in no place commands us to stop sinning and sit on our porch as He waves His hand before our lives and by that we merely observe life passing by.

No. We are warned that we will be held accountable not only for our bad actions and thoughts, but our failure to take proper actions and or failure to think proper thoughts as well.

The whole book of James looks to our active spiritual life, or the application of what we have learned spiritually, to our daily lives. We are commanded to cease doing wickedness, to cease pursuing phony philosophies and beliefs, and to begin doing good.

But here good is in the context of divine good, not human good. There is a difference. Human good is one of the strengths of the sin nature and is not from God. It may be the right thing to do, but it is classified as evil all the same, because it comes from the energy of the flesh.   Arrogance in other words.

We are commanded to wash ourselves, wash our souls.

This is the concept of confession of sin.

First there needs to be a repentance (a changing of ones mind). Repentance is not feeling sorry (that is a sin), but a change of attitude, a change of ones pattern of life. A change from being negative toward God to an attitude of being positive and desiring spiritual information.

This washing, or confession, places God the Holy Spirit in control of your soul. It also places you in fellowship with God and therefore allows the flow of spiritual information throughout your human spirit and soul. While in fellowship you are not influenced by your sin nature, therefore you have removed the functions of the sin nature from your life, from your thought process, from your actions and decisions.

Confession applies only to believers.  Unbelievers cannot confess.  It does them no good, until they are saved through faith in Christ.

Christ paid the price for sin, on the Cross.  Christ defeated death by His resurrection.  However, forgiveness was not cured on the Cross, nor in the grave, nor in the resurrection.  Forgiveness follows ones responsible act of accepting responsibility for ones own thoughts and actions.

Forgiveness is the balancing position between ones spiritual status, and ones carnal status.

When you sin, you are living in a carnal life, out of fellowship with God, and therefore have no functioning spiritual life.

When you confess your sins to God, ‘Father I did this and that and this and that,’ then He is faithful and restores you into fellowship with Him.  Once in fellowship, your spiritual life functions as it should.  All that you do within fellowship, is classified as divine good.

Out of fellowship all that you do is classified as evil, sin, human good, and none of those count for anything.

When in fellowship, your motives are now based on doctrine which you have learned and continue to learn, whereas before, your motives were based on your lusts and selfish arrogant desires.

Remember that arrogance is the granddaddy of all sin, of all rejection of God. It is the source of the attitude that you do not need God in your life, whether you think it actively or passively makes no difference. Rejection is rejection.

In order to function in society, you have to take a bath or a shower in order to not stink.  In the spiritual life, you have to confess, which is the washing of ones soul, so that you will not stink spiritually.

Confession is spiritual washing or the cleansing of ones self of sin, human good and evil.

Psalm 9:18

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalm 9:18

18 For the needy ['ebyown] shall not alway [netsach] be forgotten: [shakach] the expectation [tiqvah] of the poor [`aniy] [`anav] shall not perish ['abad] for ever. [`ad] KJV-Interlinear

18 For the needy will not always be forgotten, Nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever. NASB

God does not forget those who are under affliction. God does not forget the believers who are positive toward His word.

God judges and sets things straight from time to time in history. We have seen in Judges that Joshua and the Israelites utterly destroyed the peoples in the land. Men, women, children, animals, everything was killed or burned to destroy the stench of evil that was running rampant in the land.

Throughout history man has demonstrated an unwillingness to take this course of action to protect human life, so God superimposes His will on history and takes out judgment through various means to protect us from ourselves.

Sometimes it is through war. Sometimes through disease, or earthquakes. Whatever the tool used, it is used efficiently by God to do that which mankind sometimes sees but does nothing about. Usually politics and public opinion rules leaders rather than truth and justice.

These evil types are sent back to where they came from, evil. Those who suffer from the tyranny of the wicked are saved and promoted eventually in Gods grace and in Gods good time.

The needy and the poor, is a reference to those who are deprived from that which they are in need of.

Everyone is in need of a spiritual life.  Most unfortunately, reject Gods mandated spiritual life, or they define their own version of a spiritual life.

There are however, many who pursue the spiritual life that God has ordained and it is of those who this verse refers.  Whether rich or poor is irrelevant.  All who pursue God, Christ, doctrine and things better for them due to Gods promises, then have an eternal promise, and an eternal destiny that will never fade or diminish.

Gods promises are certain.  And regardless of what things are going on in this world, be they earthquakes or tsunami's, high gas prices or high food prices, unemployment or social difficulties in ones life, Gods promises will always be there, Gods plan for humanity and for your specific life, will march forward, and there will be nothing to stop them.

The world is often referred to as the cosmos, or Satan’s domain.  All who reject Christ and doctrine, subscribe to evil by default, but the great equalizer in life is death, which brings all of mans plans to a screeching halt.

Just remember that the sum total of your life does not begin and end in this world, but goes on forever in the next life.  Therefore, prepare yourself for the next and much longer life, for it is there that all of Gods promises will become a reality.

Those who reject Christ lose their eternal life.  Those believers who reject doctrine and their spiritual growth, lose eternal reward.  Only those who wake up and see the value of doctrine and Gods promises in their destiny, and thus pursue their spiritual life to maturity, will reap great rewards which will equate to beyond the infinite, which is beyond ones imagination.

Psalm 9:17

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalm 9:17

17 The wicked [rasha`] shall be turned [shuwb] into hell, [sha'owl] and all the nations [gowy] that forget [shakeach] God. ['elohiym] KJV-Interlinear

17 The wicked will return to Sheol, Even all the nations who forget God. NASB

The wicked, specifically unbelievers will return to Sheol, 'sheowl', the world of the dead, subterranean retreat, inmates prison.

There are four compartments in the underworld. There is Tartarus, Torments, Abyss, and Paradise. Torments is the place where unbelievers go when they die and it is not a good place to be in. There they await until the end of history, for the second death which will come at the Great White Throne at the end of the Millennium.

Torments, is separated from the other compartments by a great gulf deep, meaning impassable. Its occupants are trapped permanently there with absolutely no way out, until Christ calls them out for their final trial before the Great White Throne.

The nations, refers to the many peoples that will come from many nations, from all over the world throughout history.  And many will be in this place in the underworld. They neither desire God not regard God in their daily lives. They do not desire the knowledge of God but seek their own counsel for guidance in life.

Their own counsel is based on darkness and detachment from truth. Therefore they have no genuine guide, or course with which to travel by or even measure their advancement or deviation from a correct course in life. They are traveling blind and do not see, or they refuse to see their demise which lies in front of them.

The wicked seem to think that they can run this world through their oppression. They make great sounding speeches to gain the support of the masses, the poor, those in need, or those who are not in power, but they hold out a different standard for themselves. They make laws for us, and change them for themselves as they see fit.

The wicked is not limited to only tyrant rulers, but includes all people, rich or poor, who pursue their own course in life, to the exclusion of Gods authorized plan. Most probably maintain an indifferent attitude toward God, Christ, and doctrine, substituting their own priorities in life, from this temporary world.

Consequently their priorities are temporary as well.

And as such, all people who reject God, Christ, doctrine, and therefore truth, will fail in life, at the end of their life, by the event of death.

People can only succeed in their own eyes, while they are alive in this world, but then after death, do they then realize that they have gained and succeeded in nothing.  And that is unfortunate for them.

For the poor, who reject Christ and doctrine, their failure in life is only extended and magnified by their bitterness in their failure in life in general.

For the wealthy, who reject Christ, their success in life only serves as a blinder to their ultimate failure when they are introduced to eternity through death.

And Sheol though a general term referring to the land of the dead, applies to everyone, whether believer or unbeliever, because all peoples lives, whether positive of negative toward God, come to a halt when they die.
