14 And [kai] Adam [Adam] was [apatao] not [ou] deceived, [apatao] but [de] the woman [gune] being deceived [apatao] was [ginomai] in [en] the transgression. [parabasis] KJV-Interlinear

14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression. NASB

In history, events occur and then humanity carries their memory all through history, with the intent of condemning everyone even slightly associated with that original event.

For example, way back in ancient history, Ham defiled his dads (Noah) privacy, and as a result a descendant of Ham was cursed. Well, Ham happened to be a dark skinned person, but his descendant, Canaan, was not. And instead of understanding that the curse was for sins, the curse was interpreted because of color. That is how the world gets things all screwed up.

And now we have the original event of Eve’s failure. But her failure was not originally in the sin of eating the forbidden fruit, her failure was in not paying attention, which resulted in the commission of her sin. Eve’s failure is covered in Gen. 3.

A quick review of her failure. First she did not pay attention to Gods commands. How do we know? God commanded that the fruit not be eaten. She added to that restriction, that it could not even be touched. Second, she was conversing with a serpent that could only mimic language, but she did not catch the fact that the serpent was actually engaged in conversation and rational thought with her.

Eve was deceived. Why? Because she was not listening to truth. She was not listening to what she had been told. And when a person does not listen, then they not only miss the mark on life, but they fail to see other flaws within their periphery. Their understanding fails. Their interpretations fail. Their decisions fail. Their discernment fails.
\
Anyway, the bad rap for women enters the picture. What did Adam say? ‘The woman gave it to me.’

And so you do one thing wrong in your life, and no one will let you forget it.

You probably think that is why the woman was given the subordinate role, but if you do, then you have missed the whole point of this entire chapter.

Do you remember the topic at the beginning of the chapter?

Well, we need to bring in the next verse, before tying it all up, and straightening the entire ‘woman’ connotation that most folks seem obsessed with, and have been using these last few verses completely in error.

Besides, the second half is about to begin. After all, this is Bowl Week!

1 Timothy 2:13

DailyBibleStudy.Org

13 For [gar] Adam [Adam] was [plasso] first [protos] formed, [plasso] then [eita] Eve. [Eua] KJV-Interlinear

13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. NASB

From the very outset of the creation of humanity, and even before that, from before the creation of the angels, God established rules for everyone. We call those rules, the Laws of Divine Establishment.

The intent of those rules are to provide humanity with fundamental principles of life, that will contribute to the order and stability of society.

The very first law is that of volition. The second law is that of authority, which is in view here. The third law is that of marriage. Between these three, you have the basis for a successful society.

Volition is the making of good decisions based on truth, which is doctrine.

Authority is the coordination through which society can function, without stumbling all over itself. The basic authority is of course God, and our access to God through Christ. Disregard of this principle is the basis for religion, and other systems of belief, which reject Gods authority principle.

It is also the foundation for law and order, and due process, for court procedure and so forth. It applies in traffic conditions whereby you must obey the many traffic laws for driving, traffic lights and signs, etc., etc., etc.

And it all started when God created Adam first. That sets the precedent for Adams authority over Eve. But really establishes the principle of authority.

Adam was created first and then Eve was created. Eve came onto the scene as the helper of Adam. The creation account is described in Gen. 2.

This does not discount what we have already been studying, but we will need to cover the next two verses in order to tie everything together.

Remember our overall subject. It is not womans subordination to man, but the need for one to focus on the completion of ones own soul. And that requires a voluntary subordination of ones self, to the authority of Bible doctrine.

And that does not mean that you can make up your own rules for what or how or when you study, but you must follow Gods rules for the study process, and not your own. Thus the application of being silent (not disruptive or doing your own thing).

Subordination does not mean inferior. There are a lot of rules representing authority in society. The military has a hierarchal structure based on authority, business has a structure, sports activities have rules, there are even rules for dating. In fact there is probably not one aspect of society that does not have some sort of rule or observance which guides it. And in none of these, are you considered inferior, just because you participate or are involved in them. Authority is merely a system for establishing a framework or environment for maintaing order and preventing chaos in life.

12 But [de] I suffer [epitrepo] not [ou] a woman [gune] to teach, [didasko] nor [oude] to usurp authority [authenteo] over the man, [aner] but [alla] to be [einai] in [en] silence. [hesuchia] KJV-Interlinear

12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. NASB

With all that we have covered, here Paul seems to throw a curve at us with regard to the female role in life. Or did he?

Remember, we live in this devils world. The world is divisive, prejudiced, unfair, and certainly tries to create all sorts of artificial classes among people. Whether divided by social status, economic status, race, color, culture, or gender, the world is adamant in its attempt to make everyone unequal, some superior, and others inferior.

And that only serves to spark discontent or inordinate competition among people. After all, Satan wants only disruption in Gods plan. Therefore, when you fall prey to bitterness because of seemingly artificial inequalities, then you by default, adopt Satans policy for confrontation, and the many resultant ill feelings that accompany it.

The Bible teaches equality among all peoples, and especially between the sexes.

I know. You can quote this passage and the passages in 1 Cor. 11 and 1 Cor. 14 as examples of female subordination, but that is because you have no clue as to what these passages really teach.

The prevailing view of the womans role did not come from the Old Testament or from the New Testament, it came from the world in general.

The Old Testament affirmed that women have a spiritual status equal to that of men. The Mosaic law was given to all Israel, women as well as men, Deut 1:1. Both men and women were to teach it to their children, Deut 6:4-7; Prov 6:20. Protection of the law applies equally to women, Ex 21:28-32. Women have inheritance rights, Num 36:1-12. Men and women participated in the Jewish religious feasts, Ex 12:3; Deut 16:9-15. The Nazirite vow, was open to both men and women, Num 6:2. Women were involved in spiritual service, Ex 38:8; Neh 7:67. God did not hesitate to deal directly with women, Gen 3:13; 16:7-13; Judg 13:3. Deborah served as a judge, Judg 4:4-5:31. Miriam, Ex 15:20, Deborah, Judg 4:4, Huldah, 2 Kings 22:14, and Isaiah's wife, Isa 8:3 are called prophetesses although their roles were limited.

The New Testament teaches absolute spiritual equality, Gal 3:28.

The New Testament does not treat women as inferiors. The seed of the savior was promised and provision made through, a woman. A woman gave birth to the humanity of Jesus. The first person to whom Jesus revealed Himself as Messiah was a woman, John 4:25-26. Jesus healed women, Mark 5:25-34; Luke 13:11-13,). He taught women, Luke 10:38-42 (quite the contrast to religions like Islam). Women ministered to Jesus and the disciples, Luke 8:2-3. Jesus appeared first, following His resurrection, to a woman, Mark 16:9; John 20:11-18. Women and men were involved in the prayer services of the early church, Acts 1:13-14. Peter reminds men that women are to be honored as fellow heirs of the grace of life, 1 Peter 3:7. The fruit of the Spirit belong to both men and women, Gal 5:21-22. All the promises, commands, and blessings of the New Testament apply equally to women and men.

And even though there are many examples and promises of equalities within the spiritual realm, for both men and women, we all still live in this devils world, and it is the world that often times dictates how we behave. That is where tolerance and humility come into our lives.

It is a mans world, and authority leans heavily toward the male of the species, whether you like it or not. By the very nature of the relative roles between men and women, the male is the one who drives and the female is the one who typically holds the passive role, or the stabilizing role.

Remove the women and what would the men be doing? Running all over the place conquering and generally spreading havoc, while looking for the women.

And then once women are introduced to the scenario, then society tends to slow down, having babies, families and communities, etc. But despite their influence, authority still remains generally with the male.

Since society has a driving force behind it, when you fight against that force, then you only introduce yourself to trouble. And this is one of those instances where it is better to go with the flow, than to fight it, since the flow in this case actually contributes to the stability of society, in the form of authority.

Looking around you can see the obvious dominant role of men and the subordinate role of women. This difference does not make one superior or inferior, it only places a relative role in society on each party.

Therefore Paul here uses that scenario, to advise (for this is not a command, you will notice).

If I advise you to not run out in the busy street, if I advise you to not jump off a tall building, if I advise you to get an education, do these restrict your freedom to choose for yourself? No. They are good advice, which will help you have a better life.

And that is the view here. Authority is only restricted, in the teaching of the scriptures, to the men. Paul never restricts women in any other role. You can be a teacher, a mother, an astronaut, a scientist, a ditch digger, a whatever in life.

The trouble comes when inordinate competition enters in to the picture because of one gender trying to prove themselves equal because of their gender, rather than competing on the merits of the work. Or when one gender brings inordinate competition into a relationship because of ego or selfishness, at the expense of the relationship.

What happens in these cases? Unhappiness, hate, revenge, divorce, etc.

When Jesus first came into the world, he came, in a humble subordinate role. He assumed authority and command over no one. And, He accomplished His objective, which was purchasing our salvation.

When Paul stated that God is the head of Christ, and Christ was the head of every man, and the man the head of his wife, we know that both God and Christ are equal, and that spiritually, men and women are equal, however, society must have stability and that requires authority and respect for that arrangement, otherwise the ensuing disruption would serve to destroy society. And that is what Satan would want, of course.

A subordinate role is not an inferior role, but a compliance with Gods organization and will, so that your life can be more than you would ever get out of this world, from within a stable society, and not through a chaotic society.

11 Let [manthano] the woman [gune] learn [manthano] in [en] silence [hesuchia] with [en] all [pas] subjection. [hupotage] KJV-Interlinear

11 Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. NASB

Ok. Now we enter into the area where the guys get all macho, and the women detest or resent, being viewed as second class citizens. And both views are wrong.

That is because too many people want to read only the words and then make direct applications of the words mentioned as literal and the only possible interpretations. And most folks who try to make such restrictive interpretations have difficulty in life because their reading is not correct.

And so we have idiot religions like Islam who place the woman somewhere lower than a dog, and idiot men who just want an excuse to be the boss.

So, we have three words in this verse, combined with our context, which will clear it all up. Do you remember our subject?

The four words. Woman, learn, silence, and subjection. Not that these four words are necessarily bad when put together, but we need to look deeper into the words.

Woman, ‘gune,’ is a reference to a married woman. It is not a reference to a single woman. Married is a completion process, whereby the woman (or person) has crossed the threshold of change from a state of incompleteness to a state of a completion process.

Read that paragraph again, and slowly, so you can begin to catch the drift of what it says.

Remember that the Bible has to be read and interpreted as a complete unit, and not piece meal. ‘No jew, no gentile, no male, no female, etc.’ Remember that passage?

The next word, learn, ‘manthano,’ which means to learn, for the purpose of coming to an understanding of what you learned. To understand.

Silence, ‘hesuchia,’ to not fidget, to not be a distraction, to not bustle about, to be quiet, to concentrate on what is being presented.

Subjection, ‘hupotage,’ subordination to ones self, self discipline, to be subdued, to be obedient to a higher authority.

So, do you see the flow here?

Women (and anyone for that matter), are to submit themselves to the learning process which leads to the completion of their life. Namely the teaching and instruction of Bible doctrine and growth to spiritual maturity.

People are to submit to the authority of Gods truth. But they need to learn it first, and therefore they must approach that learning process with self discipline and concentration, so that they can actually learn, and so that they can actually understand what it is that they are learning.

This means that you halt the thinking process which generates arguments or self opinions, and you listen with the intent to learn.

Learning Bible doctrine is the marriage of Gods word to the soul. That is the only legitimate and permanent marriage in existence.

The feminine view here means that the person learning is the student, without portfolio. You have no rights, no say, when it comes to learning truth. Only when you have learned, and that takes ones entire life, will you then have a say at some time in eternity.

The reason for this is because far too many people get things all mixed up, and that leads to confusion and distortions and confrontational arguments, of what the Bible teaches. Just look at all of the denominations and opinions that are floating out there in the world. Too many chiefs.

Work on your inner self, your soul, not on your outer self (to the exclusion of your soul).

And you learn, by submitting yourself to a learning process. Gods defined learning process, not yours.

10 But [alla] (which [hos] becometh [prepo] women [gune] professing [epaggello] godliness [theosebeia]) with [dia] good [agathos] works. [ergon] KJV-Interlinear

10 but rather by means of good works, as befits women making a claim to godliness. NASB

If you read these past few verses without any further understanding, then all you would have got out of them was that men were to raise their arms and women were to remove their jewelry and seductive clothing. And that would not make a whole lot of sense to anyone.

But of course our subject is, living the spiritual life, not posture and not fashion.

Attitude and genuineness of one’s spiritual status exists in the soul, not on the outside of the body.

By emphasizing ones outward appearance, whether raising ones arms, or wearing fifth avenue fashions, serves only one master, and that is, ego. Whether vanity or approbation, when your intent is to impress people, then your priorities have strayed out of bounds with God.

To profess godliness, you must back that appearance up with good works.

And what exactly is godliness, ‘theosebeia?’ And what are good works, ‘agathos?’ Not what you think.

Godliness is not an outward appearance, but an inner content of soul. Godliness is knowledge of Bible doctrine, obedience to Gods mandates, spiritual growth, the manifestation of ones spiritual resources from within ones soul.

Good works come from the production of, or the application of, the doctrine that you possess within your soul.

Your primary production is obedience to Gods mandates, such as confession, remaining in fellowship, daily study, daily growth, persistence in all of these things, humility of soul, no phony claims, no pretense, no boasting, and so forth. Obedience in prayer, fundamental honesty, integrity, and such. The absence of arrogance driven vanity or ego.

To promote ones self by means of jewelry and seductive clothing is wrong.

But by the same token, to play the part of the peasant to simulate spirituality, is wrong as well.

Clothing and accessories are irrelevant in the spiritual life. Ones mental attitude is relevant.

Posture and noise are irrelevant in the spiritual life. Anyone can make noise and raise hands, and say hallelujah.

Ones mental attitude is relevant.

Your real beauty, your real posture, begin from within the soul. And the content of your soul begin and continue with your daily study of doctrine.

You cannot get around a daily study. That is your mandated command from God, and your only means to spiritual maturity. And, it is intended to last you all of your life, not just occasionally, not only when it is convenient, not only during holidays, but every day of your life. No exceptions.

1 Timothy 2:9

DailyBibleStudy.Org

9 In like manner [hosautos] also, [kai] that women [gune] adorn [kosmeo] themselves [heautou] in [en] modest [kosmios] apparel, [katastole] with [meta] shamefacedness [aidos] and [kai] sobriety; [sophrosune] not [me] with [en] broided hair, [plegma] or [e] gold, [chrusos] or [e] pearls, [margarites] or [e] costly [poluteles] array; [himatismos] KJV-Interlinear

9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments; NASB

The Bible is one long sequence of parables, which give us real world examples of spiritual principles. The roles of men and women in society are often brought up in order to teach doctrinal principles.

Remember that the Bible must be interpreted within its entire context, and not just by the mention of a couple of verses.

Gal. 3:28
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. NASB

Therefore in the spiritual life all people are equal with respect to their being saved and in Christ’s family. All believers are not equal with respect to their spiritual growth, for obvious reasons. Some choose to grow up and some do not.

So, with respect to this passage, many have tried to settle this issue with respect to the role of women in society, from outside the content of the Bible, but using the Bible as their basis. And this is an error and misuse of doctrine.

Here the inner beauty and inner attitude of the woman (or any person) is more important than their outward appearance. And in the world who among the sexes spend more time on their outward appearance? Well, the woman does, and that too is obvious.

So, this bit of instruction may be directed toward women, but it applies to men as well. The principle is one of attitude and priority, rather than ego and vanity.

The transition here from men to women carries the same message, namely one of ‘holy hands.’ Remember what that phrase meant? A spiritual lifestyle verses a carnal lifestyle.

And the word ‘likewise,’ ‘hosautos,’ means in similar manner. Paul did not refer to the manner of the male dress, but his spiritual status, so the spiritual status topic continues, only now the example is of women.

The word for adorn, ‘kosmeo,’ means to put in order, to arrange.

The word for clothing or apparel, ‘katastole,’ is a reference to the total package, not just an item of clothing or two, but the entire person.

Shamefacedness, ‘aidos,’ refers to modesty verses distracting.

Sobriety, ‘sophrosune,’ refers to self confidence, self control, poise, the manner of ones personality.

‘Broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array,’ refers to items that are over and above the norm. Vanity of accessorizing to an extreme, or decorating so as to transfer attention from the person to the external wrappings.

Paul does not create rules for what you can or cannot wear, nor does he restrict styles or preferences of dress or accessorizing. There is nothing wrong with the female accessories.

Remember that the key word in these two verses is ‘likewise.’ The subject is in the emphasis of ones spiritual inner self, not on ones outer self. Men do not be selfish and pray for only those you like. Women do not live your life based on emphasizing your external body.

Both are to live there life with ‘holy hands,’ … ‘likewise.’ Holy hands and proper adornment come from the content, arrangement, of the soul, not from ones bias, or ones external accessorizing.

The real you is in the soul, not what you wear.

Historical Revealing of Christ

DailyBibleStudy.Org

From the earliest days of human history, a savior was promised. This savior is Jesus Christ. Consistent and tested, predating all other systems of belief invented by man, the promise of the Messiah and Savior has withstood time (over 6000 years), and attack from all directions.

Others will contend that there is no proof, but history is full of proof, as the world around us is proof of a designer and a superior being in God Himself.

All attacks against God and Christ are fabricated and without substance. How can truth be proven wrong?

Truth is the perfect joining of fact with reality, and any attempt to discredit truth is by default, a lie.

Others say that they are the truth, however, no religion, no cult, no system of belief can document its origin or even its existence, apart from human invention. No religion, no cult, no system of belief can produce a deity that will back it up.

Only Christianity has withstood the test of time and the divine revelation that comes only from God.

This is only a partial list of Biblical references, however it provides for your benefit, a certain chronology of the revelation of Jesus Christ, up to His birth, and beyond.

The exact date of His birth is not known, and for good reason. If a date were known, then His purpose may have been lost long ago. So controversy can swirl around His birth date, which reinforces His purpose for coming into this world, which was to provide salvation for us all.

Jesus Christ is the object of our attention, not some date, not some article of clothing, not some dining utensil. Evil will try to make anything else out to be more important than Christ and doctrine, in order to distract us from His purpose, and from our priority in life.

So as we celebrate Christmas, we look to the one for whom our celebration is intended, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without whom none of us would even exist.

For through Him, our life has been given meaning and purpose. From dust of insignificance, to members of the highest Royal Family in the universe and heaven, a change and opportunity that cannot be matched anywhere else.

You have that opportunity for your very own life.

Before you were born into this world, you had no say about any part of your life. However, being born again, you have every opportunity of defining your next eternal life, through spiritual growth to maturity. With blessings that surpass the imagination, how could anyone pass up on that opportunity?

Please, at the very least, sign up on the free subscription (through the link at the bottom of this page), to the daily bible study, which has been blessed beyond my wildest dreams, being read daily by folks in over 160 countries, and has become the foremost daily study of scripture in all of the world, in our current generation.

And join with me on a daily adventure that will transform your mind and your life, and make your life for all of eternity the greatest adventure of them all. Not to mention the making of your life now, in time, an interesting adventure as well.

From my family to yours, I want to thank everyone who has joined this daily study, to those who will join this study, and especially to our Lord, who has given us all this time in history to be acquainted across the globe on the internet through doctrine. I wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas 2009

DailyBibleStudy.Org

Once upon a time, long, long ago. God look down through time and saw a lonely soul.

That soul was you.

God knew in His heart, that the first creation of angels would reject His marvelous gift, of a universe so vast that they could not possibly see it all. So, God created a test. That test was earth.

Filled with all manner of life, all manner of sights and sounds, He let loose the angels to see what would come.

But earth became void of life, and void of sound. The music of earth became still and was no more.

God settled the matter, condemning those responsible. But they complained and cried and accused it all unfair.

So God remembered that soul, that one not worth mentioning, and said to the condemned, ‘Here is the proof that My judgment is just. I will bring one from the dust, one who has no importance, and lift it to heights far beyond all that lives.’

Evil will abound. Evil will confuse. Evil will recruit. But the dust will see through it.

Life will restart. Life will abound. And through the word of Gods mouth only, will the dust rise and win.

So from generation to generation, souls lived and died. Evil tried as it may, to keep them suppressed.

But God made a promise, not to let any go. All who believed in the Word from His very own soul.

He promised to cleanse and to pay the high price, and so was the time, to make all things good.

He came and He paid, He defeated the call, of evil and sin, and death for us all.

And so time passed, and the right time came soon, and the soul that was you, was born from the womb.

And here is Gods promise to you and to all, if your faith is for real, and your commitment is true, then the dust where you came from, will rise and prevail.

The universe was once the playground of angels, to rule as they wish, but they failed by their arrogance.

And now, from useless dust, God raises up life from so low, that through faith and words alone, a winner and new ruler of not only a new universe, but of heaven combined.

That is your call. That is your destiny.

All that you see and hear and taste is like a speck of dust in the universe, small and inconsequential. There is so, so much more, just waiting your decision to listen and learn and advance to the winners circle of spiritual maturity.

Your destiny is there for the taking. God created a plan, and gave it His all, for you who came from dust, undeserving and unjust.

On one lonely night in a manger He lay. Then came Satan and evil to destroy all that was good.

But legions of angels with flaming swords drawn, stood guard, over the one who was unique, and our hope.

He gave us His life, so that our life could be secure with the fullness beyond anything that we can possibly imagination.

You are that soul, that God invented long ago. Once a mere thought, and now you live with the potential of joint rule with the one who saved you.

This Bible study is dedicated to your well being. You have only to seize hold and make it your own so that you can realize and one day enjoy the fullness of Gods promise and blessing for you.

I deeply thank you and all who have made this study yours. To those who continue to support it and thereby make it possible and available to many around the globe, who are not so lucky in this world. From my family to yours, I wish you the very merriest Christmas, and happiness in Christ that is not available anywhere else.

And now to Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you without blemish, before the presence of His glory, with exceeding joy. To the only wise God, even Jesus Christ our Lord. To whom be glory and majesty, dominion and power, before time, now, and forevermore. Believe it, for it is so.

1 Timothy 2:8

DailyBibleStudy.Org

8 I will [boulomai] therefore [oun] that men [aner] pray [proseuchomai] every [en] [pas] where, [topos] lifting up [epairo] holy [hosios] hands, [cheir] without [choris] wrath [orge] and [kai] doubting. [dialogismos] KJV-Interlinear

8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. NASB

Evangelization of the world begins with prayer.

Men, ‘aner,’ sometimes refers to the male population only, but it can also refer to humanity in general, ‘anthropos.’ And in our case here, it refers to both. To men specifically and to men and women in general.

Women will be addressed in the next verse and following, but probably not in the manner in which you think.

All prayer is addressed to God the Father. Prayer is never offered to angels, to saints, to inanimate objects, to Mary, to ancestors, not even to Jesus. Jesus Himself gave us the pattern, ‘Our Father, who art in heaven…’

All prayer must be offered while the person is in fellowship. Any prayer offered while one is out of fellowship, is invalid.

Uplifted hands, is not a posture or the actual raising of hands. Anyone can do that.

Holy hands is a reference to ones spiritual life, or to ones active life while in fellowship. Thus sin free and in actual communication with God, based on His terms, not your own.

There are several special studies on confession and fellowship, and a detailed study is located in our 1 John study.

If you are not familiar with confession and fellowship, then your prayer life is most likely dysfunctional and ineffective.

‘Without wrath and doubting,’ further emphasizes, the requirement of praying while in fellowship, from a sin free state of ones mental attitude. If you have sin in your heart, then your prayer life will not work.

That is primarily why most prayers are not answered. People are out of fellowship, people do not pray in accordance with Gods guidelines or mandates, and people do not consider Gods plan and history when they pray.

And of course all prayer must be offered in Christ’s name.

1 Timothy 2:7

1 Timothy 2:7

DailyBibleStudy.Org

7 Whereunto [eis] [hos] I [ego] am ordained [tithemi] a preacher, [kerux] and [kai] an apostle, [apostolos] (I speak [lego] the truth [aletheia] in [en] Christ, [Christos] and lie [pseudomai] not; [ou]) a teacher [didaskalos] of the Gentiles [ethnos] in [en] faith [pistis] and [kai] verity. [aletheia] KJV-Interlinear

7 And for this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. NASB

Evangelistic prayer, introducing unbelievers to the gospel of Christ is a fundamental principle of Christianity.

Pauls primary role in life was to bring the gospel as well as doctrine and spiritual growth, to the gentiles.

The word for preacher, ‘kerux,’ means herald or instructor. Apostle means messenger. Teacher means instructor. Therefore, Paul was a messenger from God, proclaiming the good news of the gospel of Christ, teaching the doctrines of Christ, and this doctrine is truth.

Paul as also the other apostles, did not proclaim any other religions or belief systems. They promoted Christianity only, because Christianity is truth, and there is no other truth in any other religion.

The foundation and fundamental objective of Christianity is two-fold, and that is to bring unbelievers to salvation through faith, and then once saved, to bring believers to spiritual maturity through truth.

For the non-Christian world, there is only one question, ‘What do you think of Christ?’ It is the single question that makes the difference between spending eternity in Heaven, or spending eternity in the Lake of Fire. Between the two, there exists an infinite difference.

For the Christian world, there exists a daily question, ‘What do you think of doctrine?’ It is the repetitive question that makes the difference between being an immature believer, verses a mature believer. Since all believers go to heaven, the difference here is in the level of eternal blessings and rewards received. That difference likewise is an infinite difference.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of believers never grow up in their spiritual lives. They spend their time pursuing their own entertainment or socializing, verses a daily study of the scriptures.

Just as teenagers, might attend school and focus on their social life, never studying, and never learning, then they leave school unprepared, and uneducated. Then they do not know what went wrong.

So too, believers spend their life focused on the social side of Christianity, or on the social side of any part of their life. They do not focus on the day to day studying, that spiritual growth demands.

So, what happens when they graduate from this world? They arrive before Christ unprepared, uneducated, and unproductive.

Paul wrote nearly half of the New Testament. And why? Did he write it so you could quote a verse every now and then? Did he write it so you could feel good during the holidays? No.

Paul wrote these many letters so you could study them, and learn, and grow up to be the fullest possible, most complete person that you can possibly become. However, this growth requires study through instruction, and a dedicated attitude toward your daily studies, everyday of your life. No exceptions. No vacations away from doctrine.

God has a plan for your life, and that plan includes phenomenal blessings, but you must advance to spiritual maturity in order to receive them. No advancement, no blessings. The difference, between the blessing package for an immature believer and a mature believer, is infinite. That is a lot to throw away for the convenience of indifference, or laziness, or social focus only, in ones life.

This Bible study is written daily, so that you can have the opportunity to grow up to be the most that you can possibly be.

It is up to you to decide just how important Gods mandates are, verses your own priorities.

6 Who [ho] gave [didomi] himself [heautou] a ransom [antilutron] for [huper] all, [pas] to be testified [marturion] in due [idios] time. [kairos] KJV-Interlinear

6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time. NASB

Jesus Christ did not merely go to the Cross and pay a debt, but He became the substitute for all of humanity, and gave Himself over, entirely to death, in mans place.

John 10:17-18
17 "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.
18 "No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father." NASB

He gave Himself as a ransom. Death owned man, and demanded man. However, Christ went to death in mans place, completely and totally. That is something, the magnitude of which, we will never comprehend nor understand.

In so doing, Christ paid an infinite price that was sufficient to cover all of the sins of humanity. Thus the doctrine of atonement, which is the covering over of all sins. Wiping the slate clean so to speak, for mankind.

However, even though the price paid was sufficient to cover all of humanity, there is still the requirement of each individual to believe in Christ, which is in effect each persons acceptance of Christs work on the Cross in his behalf.

However, as many will receive this opportunity (namely the entire human race, few will actually believe, Matt 22:14, 1 Tim 4:10; 1 John 4:14.

All of this history was accomplished at the proper time in history. God does not do things haphazardly, but God has a well laid out plan for human history.

Nothing occurs in history by accident. Everything is foreordained, or foreknown by God. God does not force anyone to make their decisions or do whatever it is that they will do in history. God just knows before hand, what you are going to do, or are not going to do.

You create the pattern of your own life, by yourself.

God has a plan for your life. Your plan is unique to your life. But there are two potential plans from your perspective. One in which you will follow Gods desired plan for you, and one in which you will not.

Guess which is the better of the two?

1 Timothy 2:5

1 Timothy 2:5

DailyBibleStudy.Org

5 For [gar] there is one [heis] God, [theos] and [kai] one [heis] mediator [mesites] between God [theos] and [kai] men, [anthropos] the man [anthropos] Christ [Christos] Jesus; [Iesous] KJV-Interlinear

5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, NASB

And this is the single principle of truth that sets Christianity apart from all, repeat all other systems of belief in the world, throughout all of history.

There is only one God. One means unique.

The God of Christianity is unique and different from all other gods or claims of deity from all other religions.

Many try to equate the God of Judaism, of Islam, of Hinduism, of Buddhism, and make the assumption that they should all be treated equally with respect.

Since the fundamental essence of deity is truth, and omniscience, then God cannot lie and God cannot make any mistakes since He knows all things.

However, since other religions claim to be the ‘only’ god then that claim alone disqualifies the concept of a plurality of gods.

The Bible is the oldest system of faith in existence, dating back to Adam, and documented in one of the oldest of recorded books in all of history, which is that of Job, and predating all of the other religions.

The concept of a single and unique God is referenced in several places in the Bible, Deut 4:35,39; 6:4; Isa 43:10; 44:6; 45:5-6,21-22; 46:9; 1 Cor 8:4,6.

Further, the Bible teaches that there is only one person who stands between God and man, as the only unique mediator between the two, equal with both deity and humanity, Job 9:33, Acts 4:12, Heb 8:6, Heb 9:15, 12:24, namely Jesus Christ.

The single reference to ‘the man,’ refers to the unique man, or to the unique person, separate from all other person in the human race. Jesus Christ is the unique person of the universe, both God and man together in the same person. This is often referred to as the hypostatic union.

And the name of course is Jesus Christ.

‘Christ’ is taken from the Greek, and is equivalent to the Hebrew word ‘Messiah,’ both meaning ‘anointed.’ John 1:41, 4:25.

And ‘Jesus’ which is taken from the Greek, and is equivalent to the Hebrew word ‘Joshua,’ meaning ‘God is salvation.’ And therefore taken together both carry the meaning, ‘The anointed savior is God.’ Acts 7:45, Heb. 4:8, Matt. 1:21.

In many passages the name Jesus Christ is associated with deity even further, ‘kurios,’ which means Lord, Acts 11:17; 15:11; 16:31; 20:21; 28:31; Rom 1:7; 5:1,11; 13:14; 1 Cor 16:23, etc.

1 Timothy 2:4

DailyBibleStudy.Org

4 Who [hos] will have [thelo] all [pas] men [anthropos] to be saved, [sozo] and [kai] to come [erchomai] unto [eis] the knowledge [epignosis] of the truth. [aletheia] KJV-Interlinear

4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. NASB

God desires for everyone to be saved, however, God does not coerce or force anyone to believe in Him. This is an optional belief for everyone, however, God does make sure that everyone who comes to the decision point of believing or not, knows the repercussions of both decisions.

To believe in Christ, means an eternal life in heaven. To reject Christ means eternal condemnation in the Lake of Fire.

God is the glue that holds all things together, the infinite resource that sustains and supplies all needs.
To reject Christ and to choose a life without God, means to reject any power that holds your existence, your environment, together. To reject Christ means to reject forever, everything that would be needed for ones eternal existence.

Therefore, rejecting Christ means that the unbeliever will be in a place separated from all resources and all sustaining power, and is on ones own. The magnitude of that kind of existence is beyond ones ability to understand, apart from the descriptions given in the Bible. The descriptions of the Lake of Fire are not good, and horrendously horrible and worse.

Since we can be alone in this life, we do not realize that we are not really alone, not really unsupported. For all around us is our environment, buildings, floors, ceilings, air, food, sounds, colors, etc., etc., etc. But when you remove all of these things, then you are totally alone with absolutely nothing to hold your existence together.

God is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works, Psa. 145:8-9. There are mercies from God for everyone. They are not excluded to believers only. However there are many forms of mercy, and the more advanced forms accompanied with blessings, belong to believers only, for obvious reasons. Family always receives priority treatment over strangers who refuse to join the family.

God as savior appears in several passages, 2 Sam 22:3; Psa 106:21; Isa 43:3,11, Isa 45:22-23, 1 Tim. 1:1; 4:10; Titus 1:3; 2:10; 3:4.

Gods saving character is made manifest through Jesus Christ, 1 Tim. 2:5-6; 2 Tim 1:10; Titus 1:4; 2:13; 3:6.

God is the savior of all men in that He provided the means of salvation for everyone (temporal salvation), but His saving grace becomes a reality for those who actually believe in Christ (eternal salvation), 1 Tim 4:10.

People just have to repent (change their minds from their rejection mode) and believe, Isa 55:1, Ezek 18:23,32, Ezek 33:11, 2 Peter 3:9.

Jesus Christ is God, and there is no other deity. All other religions ignore or mis-state this truth.

Isa. 45:22-23
22 "Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

However, salvation is not the sum total of Gods plan for the individual. After salvation, one must grow up and become an adult in order to enjoy the full riches of ones life. And that is incorporated in the word for knowledge, ‘epignosis,’ which means possessed knowledge, or wisdom.

‘Gnosis,’ is the knowledge of details, but ‘epignosis,’ is knowledge mastered and at the command of the one possessing it. The spiritually mature believer has ‘epignosis,’ in his soul, wisdom, 2 Tim 2:25; 3:7; Titus 1:1.

Approval is obtained from God through your daily study of Bible doctrine, ‘Study to show thyself approved [mature],’ 2 Tim. 2:15.

God desires for everyone to be saved and to be grown up to their fullest completeness in life that is possible.

The only thing that stands in the way of your not attaining the best life possible, is your daily decision to not study.

3 For [gar] this [touto] is good [kalos] and [kai] acceptable [apodektos] in the sight [enopion] of God [theos] our [hemon] Saviour; [soter] KJV-Interlinear

3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, NASB

And why should you pray for the unbelievers and jerks of the world? Because it is the morally right thing to do.

The word for good, ‘kalos,’ means that which is intrinsically right. Intrinsic means fundamental and possessed value which never diminishes or fades. Intrinsic is a characteristic that belongs to something and can never be taken away.

Gold, for example, has always had value throughout history and will always have value. There will never be a time when Gold is without value, never be a time when gold will not be desired. Gold has intrinsic value.

And this requirement of God, to pray for others, especially unbelievers, especially for those in leadership roles, is a mandatory prayer requirement. For, praying for enlightenment, when accomplished, results in only good things for everyone.

Our earnest desire should be that all people will be saved, Rom. 9:3, 10:1.

We do not know who will believe in Christ, as many are called, but few will believe, Matt. 22:14. However, the world is entitled to know the name of Christ and who and what He is, John 17:21, 23, and the world should know, that without their savior, they will surely die, eternally separated from God, Eze. 33:11.

Prayer for others helps to train you in unselfishness. Prayer for others helps train you in avoiding elite or exclusivity attitudes. Prayer for others should help train you in humility and understanding the destiny repercussions that face others in the world. Prayer for others should help instill within you an empathy for the circumstances of others.

Prayer for others should help you get your eyes off of self, and opened up to the realities of life, and to the fact that it is Gods grace that controls your life as well as others, not you.

Prayer for others should help you establish your correct priorities in life, namely doctrine, and not your personal entertainment or whims.

Prayer for others should help you realize what is important and relevant in life, and what is not important. Namely the possible eternal destruction of others, verses your personal desires of the moment.

1 Timothy 2:2

DailyBibleStudy.Org

2 For [huper] kings, [basileus] and [kai] for all [pas] that are [on] in [en] authority; [huperoche] that [hina] we may lead [diago] a quiet [eremos] and [kai] peaceable [hesuchios] life [bios] in [en] all [pas] godliness [eusebeia] and [kai] honesty. [semnotes] KJV-Interlinear

2 for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. NASB

Do not constrain your prayers to family and friends, but to all people, both known and unknown.

And especially to those who are in authority.

Why?

Well, you probably will not like most of the folks who have places of authority in life. Whether it be the boss, or the national leaders, it makes no difference. Prayer is for their awakening to truth and to their proper role in life, which is not to oppress, or not for their personal gain and power, but the role of leaders is to promote an environment that is compatible with freedom and liberty, and peace and prosperity, without oppressive regulatory burdens, for all of the citizens or members, and an environment which is in their best interest, not that of the leader.

A tranquil and quiet life is the objective of anyone's life. Tranquility means the absence of external disturbances in ones life. Quiet, means the absence of internal disturbances in ones life. These disturbances include all sorts of pressures and burdens that exist in the world.

This is translated even within our own national constitution in freedom, liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness.

These things are entitled to people without government or legislative coercion, mandates, or trickery.

And without prayer, then the world is subject to all manner of power struggles and lust struggles.

If everyone were saved, if everyone were believers in Christ, if everyone pursued their spiritual life to maturity, then with prayers so voluminous to God, the peace and prosperity in the world would jump way off the charts.

Look at any western country, or any country with Christian roots. You will find phenomenal prosperity, phenomenal innovation, phenomenal opportunity.

Look at any country that invests their roots in religion. They lack innovation, and originality, and what they do have comes to them from the prosperous Christian countries. Without that connection, they would be living in the stone age, and most of them do anyway.

Only when there is some semblance of freedom of Christian faith, does prosperity or any form of opportunity, become available.

Where ever you find religious influence in society, you find oppression, poverty, and hardships, prejudice, and the lack of opportunity. Especially for women and those who are not in power.

The only way to turn that around, is through prayer.

And what really happens in society? People do not pray, or people pray incorrectly. And that means their prayers have no affect on their life or on society in general. And the lack of prayer is a form of sin, in that people are not obedient to this mandate, or they are out of fellowship anyway, and therefore living in sin’s influence anyway.

That means trouble and difficulties in life.

This prayer does not call of for the removal of leaders, but for their enlightenment.

This prayer does not force the believer to submit to oppressive legislation. Everyone has the right to do that which is responsible in society, like vote, run for office, etc. You just cannot rebel against the authority with the objective of destroying it. Abusive and tyrannical authorities are another matter. However, prayer fuels the divine power to destroy fortresses, 2 Cor. 10:4.

The objective of prayer for authorities, or those things that exist beyond your control, is to obtain a peaceful environment, and then within the peaceful environment, the objective of life is to be able to advance in ones spiritual life, trouble free.

It is far better and easier to advance in ones spiritual life when there is no trouble, no pressure, no turmoil, in ones life.

But alas, people do not pray, people do not conform to Gods mandates, people just are not interested in Gods plan, but are only in their own self defined plan for life.

And when society turns away from God by not conforming to Gods rules, then God removes honorable leaders, removes doctrinal opportunities, allows troubles to develop in society, troubles of their own design, and the general population does not get it. They do not understand. That is until things go really bad, Isa. 57.

1 Timothy 2:1

1 I exhort [parakaleo] therefore, [oun] that, first [proton] of all, [pas] supplications, [deesis] prayers, [proseuche] intercessions, [enteuxis] and giving of thanks, [eucharistia] be made [poieo] for [huper] all [pas] men; [anthropos] KJV-Interlinear

1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, NASB

Christians are not limited for to pray for believers only, for family only, for loved ones only, or for those who they know only, but for all of humanity, including unbelievers.

The worst possible result of anyone's life is the Lake of Fire. That is by far the worst place, and to be sent there to stay forever, and is an unbelievably horrendous destiny.

So, prayer must include the evangelization of unbelievers everywhere, such that they might hear the gospel, and receive Christ as their savior, by believing in Jesus Christ.

Even if they do nothing more in their life regarding God, or Christ, or their own spiritual life, they will at least be saved and will be in heaven. That is far better than the alternative.

Someone suggested once that unbelievers in humanity, unlike the angels who were condemned, really are at a disadvantage, when it comes to understanding reality and the repercussions of their unbelief. The Bible teaches that no one has an excuse for unbelief. And when unbelievers die, they go to Torments, a temporary place, before they go to the Lake of Fire.

At the end of human history, at the end of the Millennium, they will all be brought before the Great White Throne for their final judgment. One has to believe, that many will cry out to Christ, having spent their time in Torments, and ask for forgiveness, and that cry will be in the form of belief and therefore they will be saved at their very last opportunity, while some, perhaps most, will continue in their defiance and then be judged and sentenced to the Lake of Fire.

Unbelief in ones life is an extremely risky decision, because you might not have that last opportunity. Time spent in Torments, just might drive ones attitude deeper and deeper into hate.

Whatever Gods plan is, we are commanded to pray for unbelievers. It may very well be that our prayers will be answered and many will be saved. It may very well be that these prayers will be answered at the end of history.

Moses prayed for unbelievers, Num. 14:19, Samuel prayed for unbelievers, 1 Sam. 7:3-5, 1 Sam. 12:23, Jeremiah prayed, Jer. 7:12-16, 14:10-11, Daniel prayed, Dan. 9:17-19, Stephen prayed as he was being stoned to death, Acts 7:59-60, Paul prayed, Rom. 9:1-4, Rom. 10:1, Jonah prayed because he did not want them to be saved and was later rebuked for his selfishness, Jonah 4.

Salvation is not restricted for the elite only. Salvation is not restricted of the law abiding citizen only. Salvation is not restricted for one culture or one race, or one group only.

Salvation is available to everyone. Personality, sins, social status, wealth, talent, looks, culture, race, color, whatever, are all irrelevant.

Christians are commanded to not be prejudiced, to not be judgmental, to not exclude anyone regardless of whether you know them or not, whether you like them or not, whether you have an opinion or not.

The rules of salvation are defined by God, not you.

And those rules are simply, ‘Believe in Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.’ And that is all.

There is no requirement for penance, for works, for making up for mistakes or sins, or anything. Belief is all that is required, and all that counts in salvation.

And once you have believed in Christ, then your salvation is sealed and permanent and forever.

You can not lose it. You can not throw it away. No one can take it from you.

1 Timothy 1:20

1 Timothy 1:20

DailyBibleStudy.Org

20 Of whom [hos] is [esti] Hymenaeus [Humenaios] and [kai] Alexander; [Alexandros] whom [hos] I have delivered [paradidomi] unto Satan, [Satanas] that [hina] they may learn [paideuo] not [me] to blaspheme. [blasphemeo] KJV-Interlinear

20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered over to Satan, so that they may be taught not to blaspheme. NASB

And finally Paul mentions two men, by name. Two men that were spreading false information, and as a result, causing trouble among the Christians.

Nothing is known about Hymenaeus or Alexander. Hymenaeus is mentioned one more time in 2 Tim 2:17, along with another false teacher, Philetus. And a man named Alexander is mentioned as an opponent of the Christian faith in 2 Tim 4:14-15, which may or may not be the same man.

However, the purpose of this mentioning of these two men has nothing to do with their names, but with the repercussions they will be made to experience as a result of their actions of promoting false ideas.

By implication, Paul has tried to straighten them out in their thinking, but after so many tries, and we are not told how many, Paul simply gave up on them and in effect has given them up to learn from life’s experiences.

Satan is the ruler of the world.

In this world, you learn from academic teaching, and you learn from experience. Sometimes we call it being book smart or educated, or street smart. And this is an expression which Paul uses. These two men refused to listen and learn from Pauls instruction, so, Paul is going to let them learn from life.

Whenever you have the choice to learn, learning from an organized instructional approach is usually far better than learning from life’s experiences. That does not mean that experience is a bad way to learn, because experience is a great way to learn when it is complimented by an academic learning approach, or when it is a positive approach.

However, when your mind is closed to good advice, and when you think you know it all, then you leave yourself open for learning the hard way. And that is generally not the preferred way to learn anything, because learning the hard way means trouble, pain, suffering, anxiety, loss, and so forth.

Paul tried his best, but these men would not listen, so Paul simply gave up on them. There is only so much that you can do, and then you have to let God deal with them in His own way, in His own time.

Learn, ‘paideuo,’ means to learn from life’s experiences. And that is what Paul is going to let them do. They will learn the hard way, and now God will be the instructor.

When you suffer in life, that does not mean that you have been bad and deserved your suffering. Life is full of hardships. It is the devils world. But there is enough suffering to go around in a normal day to day life, without looking for it.

Blasphemy is any form of slander against God. It is not limited to verbal language. Any sin, any attitude, any disobedience, etc., certainly qualifies as blasphemy. Even neglect in your mandated daily bible study, is a form of blasphemy, in that you are not pursuing truth, but coasting along in the views of the world.

And feeling that what you are doing is right, is not good enough, if you are not obedient to Gods mandate to listen, to learn, and to grow up. And thus life enters into your space and that can mean trouble.

Certainly being indifferent is bad enough, but when you promote false ideas, attitudes, and opinions, then that is even worse in that you are attempting to lead others down the path of your incorrect beliefs, thus misleading them.

And every now and then, God will step into the picture and drop the hammer on your life, in order to get you to wake up.

For some people it works, but for most, it does not work. And when masses of society drift away from truth, then the magnitude of suffering grows exponentially. And in that case you will see regional or national or international trouble of some type, as well as individual difficulties in ones life.

Everyone has the opportunity to make their life better or worse.

You can assume responsibility and control over your own life, by becoming proactive in your life, and going after, seeking out, pursuing that which you need to learn, or you can sit back and wait for someone else to bring things to you. But that is what an infant does.

The infant can’t do anything for itself. It has to cry to get attention, it has to wait for someone else to care for it. All it can do, or even wants to do, is be happy and let the world drift by. And as such, the infant has nothing to show for its existence.

So, you can remain a spiritual infant and have nothing to show for your life, even learning the hard way, or you can take charge of your destiny, and place yourself under Gods control, and accomplish a life beyond your imagination.

Dispensations
What is your purpose in life?

DailyBibleStudy.Org

One of the more necessary concepts of Christianity, in order to understand Gods plan for history and for each individual, is the concept of Dispensations.

Without a basic understanding of dispensations, the believer will not be able to make correct applications of doctrine, which apply to different era’s in history.

And without a fundamental understanding of dispensations, the believer will not be able to understand his own personal role in life as well as in history.

Once born into this world, the individual is spiritually dead. Spiritual death requires a redeemer to buy back, as it were, ones freedom from the slavery of eternal death. Jesus Christ is that unique redeemer, through His work on the Cross.

Each person need only believe in Christ, Jn 3:16, and thus his eternal salvation is settled forever, in that one unique moment, Rom. 8:38-39, 1 Pet. 1:4-5.

But the big question, once a person has been saved is, ‘After salvation, what?’

And it is the believers’ attitude toward bible doctrine that will determine his/her individual quality of life here on earth, and his/her reward in heaven in the next life.

All things in Gods plan come to the individual believer, freely, Rom. 8:32. But the believer is still required to be responsible and obedient to Gods truth. One cannot pretend or live a life in accordance with lies, and expect grace from God.

Therefore, regardless of the time in which the believer lives in history, the one key element for ones spiritual life is, learn Bible doctrine and grow up to spiritual maturity.

We are told to transform the thinking of our minds, Rom. 12:2, such that Gods plan and purpose for our individual lives, might be fulfilled, Rom. 12:2, Eph. 1:18, 4:22-24. The post salvation life demands spiritual growth to maturity, 2 Pet. 3:18, and that is accomplished through a daily study of Bible doctrine, 2 Tim. 2:15.

You as a believer in Christ, are kept on this earth, in order to fulfill your destiny, which is to grow up to become a mature believer, a winner, Eph. 4:13-16.

Your life, as a mature believer, becomes a unique expression of the glory of God, both now in time and forever in eternity, Rom. 8:29-30, 9:23-24.

But, and there is always a but, you do not accomplish this by default, it is reserved only for the spiritually mature believer, Rom. 6:1-2, 1 Jn. 1:5-2:6.

Those who live in perpetual infancy, because they choose to not grow up, do not fulfill this goal.

All divine blessings that the believer can understand and experience and comprehend, come only as a result of the believers spiritual growth. Spiritual infants cannot understand, comprehend or even experience the things of the spiritual adult.

Bible doctrine is the teaching of the content of the scriptures, through academic instruction, such that the believer’s mind is transformed and so that doctrine becomes a measure of the believers thinking and mental attitude, Rom. 12:2-3, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, Phil. 2:5, Heb. 4:16.

God magnifies His word above His name, Psa. 138:2. Why? Because it is only through Bible doctrine that humanity has access into God, His life, His character, His purpose, and therefore an understanding of their own life.

Now that is the purpose and plan for your life, to grow up so that God (not you) can fulfill your life and bring you to the point of your ultimate completeness. Most folks never reach this goal, because most folks never grow up, because most folks don’t make the effort. Remaining a spiritual infant is much easier, than growing up by means of a daily study.

As far as history is concerned, God has divided up history into segments of time, or era’s, or dispensations.

A dispensation is defined in terms of divine revelation or purpose. In each succeeding dispensation, God reveals more and more truth, which makes known Gods plan for humanity as it unfolds throughout history.

Thus the concept of dispensations, identifies the different mechanics and procedures as well as the continuities that run between and through the them. And this helps the believer to understand how history works, and when various events apply to history and to what era of time they apply.

In the Bible there is common theme and distinction between Israel and the Church, Acts 10:45, Rom. 11:25, Gal. 6:15, Eph. 2:11-22, Heb. 3:5-6. And the dividing point between these two dispensations (Age of Israel and the Church Age), is the First Advent of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the key to all interpretation of history, Eph. 3:10-11, Rev. 1:8.

There are many ways to divide up history, and in any given conversation, you could probably come up with a dozen different ways to divide up history, however there are three basic divisions in history.

The prehistoric period which occurred prior to the creation of man, followed by human history, followed by eternity.

During human history, there are three basic divisions of history. The theocentric, christocentric, and the eschatological periods of human history.

The theocentric period began with the start of human history to the First Advent of Christ. It includes the Age of the Gentiles and the Age of Israel. It is the ‘long ago’ period before God spoke to us in His Son, Heb. 1:1-2.

The christocentric period includes the First Advent of Christ, as well as the Church Age, and will end with the end of our current dispensation (the Church Age) at the Rapture.

The eschatological period is future and includes the Tribulation, and the Millennium.

These three categories of history make up human history from Adam to the end of the Millennium.

From Gods perspective, the administration of different periods of time in dispensations, is the demonstration of the relationship between Christ and the Church, which is the ultimate goal of history, wherein the believer is in union with Christ, Eph. 1:17-23, 3:10, 21.

Satan wanted to be like the Most High, and tried to and is still trying to, take Gods sovereignty away, for himself.

However in grace, God demonstrates that he is able to create a creature lower than the angels, and elevate them above the angels, even to the point of union with Christ, which is the ultimate height for any created being. And that is the believers ultimate destiny.

A long time ago, Satan revolted against God, Isa. 14:13-14. Satan and the angels that joined in his revolt were convicted, Ezek. 28:16-18, and then sentenced, Matt. 25:41. This sentence was issued before humanity was created, but will not be imposed until after the Millennium, Rev. 20:10.

So, why the gap or delay, between sentencing and execution of the sentence?

In legal terms, once the sentence was imposed, then an appeal is available for the convicted. And thus Satan has in effect an appeal through human history, to prove his innocence, making consistent claims against Gods character, and God has the opportunity to prove His righteousness, Psa. 145:21, Zech. 3:1-10, Lk. 2:14, Rom. 9:23, 11:25-36, Job. 1:12, 2:6, Matt. 4:1-11.

Human history was begun to resolve this angelic conflict, as Satan attempts to prove himself equal with God, Isa. 14:14. But Satan only demonstrates his own incompetence, and evil, and this only serves to confirm his arrogance and guilt, and that his sentence was just.

Gods wisdom is revealed through human history, to rulers and authorities (fallen angels) in heavenly places, Eph. 3:10, 6:12.

And God uses the various changes in dispensations, to demonstrate over and over, His perfect righteousness, and Satan’s guilt.

And so just before Christ ascended to Heaven, He was questioned regarding the timing of future events, Acts 1:6-7.

Acts 1:7
And [de] he said [epo] unto [pros] them, [autos] It is [esti] not [ou] for you [humon] to know [ginosko] the times [chronos] or [e] the seasons, [kairos] which [hos] the Father [pater] hath put [tithemi] in [en] his own [idios] power. [exousia]

The key words here are ‘times and seasons.’ The words for ‘times,’ ‘chronos,’ indicates time as a succession of events, one following the other in chronological sequence. It is used in Rom. 16:25 and 1 Pet. 1:20, with a dispensational connotation.

‘Seasons,’ or ‘epochs,’ ‘kairos,’ refers to an era of time, characterized by a system or development of something that is unique to that era. This noun is used to assemble organizational events within a defined set of historical boundaries. For example, the dinosaurs belonged to their own era, the Garden of Eden had its own defined period of time, the pre-flood era had its own designated timeframe, and so forth.

Sometimes ‘kairos,’ refers to the Church Age, Rom. 8:18, 11:5, 13:11, or to the Age of Israel, Eph. 2:11-12, or to the Age or Times of the Gentiles, Lk. 21:24, which is a reference to the combination of two dispensational periods including the Church Age and the Tribulation.

So why were the disciples told that the times or epochs were not for them to know? Because they already knew the concept of dispensations, but were expecting the immediate Kingdom of God, because of their feelings against the Roman occupation of their country. They had already been told by Jesus, Matt. 23:27-25:46, John 14-17. They knew of the Kingdom of God through scriptures in the Old Testament, a Kingdom that would come at the end of their dispensation, Psa. 89:27-29, Isa. 40:3-5, 62:10-12, Micah 4:1-8, 5:2-4, Zech. 9:9-10.

Jesus had taught them the dispensational concept throughout His ministry, Matt. 5:17, 24:3.

The disciples and almost everyone, wanted to know the specific dates of when the Kingdom was going to come, but God demanded a spiritual response to the Cross prior to the Kingdom, Matt. 23:37. The disciples misunderstood the principle of the rejection of the Messiah, by Israel, and the necessary opening up to the gentiles, because of that rejection. Thus the Age of Israel was set aside, interrupted, for the Age of the Gentiles, which we call the Church Age.

Jesus Christ presented Himself as the Messiah, the King of the Jews, the Son of David, the fulfillment of Gods unconditional covenants, but these were rejected by the Jews, and therefore the Kingdom was postponed until the Millennium. And actually it was not postponed by any action of God, but by the actions of the Jewish nation.

God will establish His Kingdom based on His timing, not mans, 1 Thess. 5:1-2.

Now the Age of the Church was begun, which focused on a new body of believers, both Jews and Gentiles, now called neither Jew nor Gentile, but Christians.

The disciples, as are many believers, were confused because they did not see the end of the ministry of Christ to the Jews, and the beginning of His ministry to the Church.

And so it is with many believers in our current day, they do not separate these two distinct era’s, and because they do not understand dispensations, in which certain events belong to one and not to the other, then they confuse doctrinal teaching and fail to understand even fundamental prophecies, Col. 2:16-3:3.

It was not until the arrival of the Church Age, at Pentecost, that the apostles and disciples began to understand the principle and need for the Church Age. Paul taught it to the disciples, Gal. 2, and to us through Peter, 1 Pet. 3:1-16.

Their understanding of these things is reflected in 1 Thess. 5:1-2, ‘… you yourselves know full well …’

There are two other Greek words, that describe dispensations. They are ‘aion,’ and ‘oikonomia.’

From ‘aion,’ we get the terms, Age of Israel, or Church Age, Rom. 16:25, Eph. 3:9, Col. 1:26.

The term, ‘oikonomia,’ defines a period of specific administration to that period or era, 1 Cor. 9:17, Eph. 1:8-10, 3:2-3, 8-9, Col. 1:25-29, 1 Tim. 1:3-4. These passages refer to the Church Age.

At specific times in history, God has instituted changes in authority, responsibility, procedure, and so forth. And these changes apply to first one group, and then another group, and then another group and so forth.

For example, there was first the focus on the time of innocence in the Garden, then that passed on to the Gentiles, then that changed to the Nation of Israel, then that changed to Jesus Christ in His first advent, and from there to the Church, and from our current dispensation, to the besieged remnant of Israel in the Tribulation, and then to the Millennium.

Dispensations were not arbitrary insertions or divisions of history, but relate to the unveiling of divine revelation as history unfolded. Jesus confirmed the times and epochs as fixed by Gods own authority, Acts 1:7.

Paul, in his teaching of the Church Age, referred to it as the ‘mystery’ age, Col. 1:26.

The mystery doctrine unveils the characteristics unique to the Church Age, and sets it apart from all other dispensational periods because of those unique differences.

Christ foretold of the Church age, John 14-17.

The Church Age was brought into existence in order to glorify Christ to the maximum, John 16:14, Eph. 1:21-23, 5:25-27. The doctrines of the Church Age, depend on the glorification of Christ, John 7:39.

Christ announced His success and the formation of the Church in which God would glorify Him forever, John 13:31-32.

Israel was given every opportunity to accept the Messiah, but they rejected Him. The Church was not brought into existence until after their (the Jews) rejection of Christ.

Two passages written by Paul, demonstrate the principle of dispensations, through the mystery doctrine, Eph. 3:1-5, and Col. 1:25-27, by contrasting all other dispensations against that of the Church.

The way of salvation did not change from one era to another, however, the believers in the Church Age, became recipients of many more privileges and blessings, that were not available to believers in the other dispensations. That blessing list is written in another study, which you can find in the Special Studies Library, on the web site. It is an extensive list, and unique to our dispensation.

The Age of Israel contained the promise of a Messiah and a Divine Kingdom. When the Messiah was rejected, 1 Pet. 2:9, effectively at the Cross, then its continuance as an era, was about to be placed on hold. Forty days after the Cross, Jesus ascended, and then ten days later, at the Feast of Pentecost, the Church Age began with the giving of the Holy Spirit, who was sent to indwell every believer, and does so, throughout our dispensation.

The dispensation of the Church is the era of the formation of the Royal Family, for the purpose of the maximum glorification of Christ.

Jesus Christ possess’s among others, three titles and families. He has a divine title, Son of God and His divine family is the Godhead. He has a Jewish title, Son of David, and His family is the Davidic dynasty. He has a third title which is His battlefield title, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Bright Morning Star, and his family is the Church.

We in effect when we believe in Christ, become a member of his family and thus are divine royalty. We are known as the Body of Christ or the Church, Gal. 3:28, Eph. 1:22-23.

This very existence of a royal connotation and title, makes our era unique in history, distinguishing us from all other dispensations.

During the Church Age, the Royal Family is being formed, and once formed, will be removed from the earth in the Rapture.

Subsequent to our Age, are two more era’s of time, called the eschatological era’s, namely the Tribulation, and the Millennium.

Both were referred to in the Old Testament, while the Church Age was never mentioned. Thus all prophecy revealed in the Old Testament, which remains unfulfilled, belongs to each of these future periods, and not to the Church Age.

The Church Age has its own unique set of predicted historical trends, revealed by Jesus, in the New Testament, but never revealed in the Old Testament.

The Tribulation immediately precedes the founding of Gods Kingdom, and is their last punishment for their rejection of Christ, Dan. 9:27, Rev. 11:3, 12:6, Isa. 34:1-6, 63:1-6, Jere. 30:4-8, Eze. 38-39, Dan. 11:40-45, Zech. 12:1-3, 14:1-2, Rev. 6-19.

The Tribulation is also called the time of Jacob’s trouble, Jere. 30:7, and Daniels seventieth week, Dan. 9:24-27, and the time of Satan’s desperation, Rev. 12:12. It will last seven years.

During the first half of the Tribulation, also called Satan’s attempted utopia, Satan will try to establish his own version of a millennium on the earth. His attempts to purse prosperity and peace will be only masks for coercion, slavery and violence. A large portion of the world’s population will die during this utopia attempt.

Satan will be ejected mid way through the Tribulation, and the last half of the Tribulation, the last three and a half years, will see tremendous evangelization of the world, as well as tremendous rejection of Christ by most folks. This will result in unprecedented violence and judgments against the world.

The Tribulation will end with a huge world war, and will be stopped and brought to an end by the Second Advent of Christ. Christ will deliver the believing Jews, Isa. 5:26-30, 10:20-23, 11:11-16, 14:1-3, 63:1-6, Joel 2:16-3:21, Zech. 10:6-12.

These events are all a part of our study of the Book of Revelation.

Christ will establish His one-thousand year rule, and will rule during the greatest period of prosperity and peace in all of history, Dan. 9:24, Zech. 14:9.

At the end of the Millennium, then the final judgments will be held, Rev. 20:11-15, our current universe will be destroyed, and a new and permanent universe will be created. There, we believers will live with God forever, 2 Pet. 3:7, 10-13, Rev. 21-22:5
